The Porter List – No. 1
Sometimes the things shaping my design decisions aren’t big trends — they’re small details I keep seeing everywhere and loving more each time.
Right now I’m drawn to materials that feel grounded, classic, and a little imperfect.
01
Natural Marble with Bold Veining
A single slab of beautiful marble will always feel more luxurious than multiple smaller pieces of average stone.
02
Unlacquered Brass
Hardware, lighting, plumbing fixtures — brass that ages naturally adds warmth and character over time.
03
Walnut Wood
Deep walnut tones instantly ground a space and make it feel richer.
04
Plaster Walls
Flat paint can feel cold. Plaster adds subtle texture and softness.
05
Linen Upholstery
Relaxed but refined. Linen feels lived-in without feeling sloppy.
06
Distressed Red Brick
Especially in courtyards, fireplaces, or exterior facades. It brings history and warmth.
07
Honed Natural Stone
Polished stone can feel too perfect. Honed finishes feel timeless and architectural.
